Hospital operations management (improving processes to achieve better results in efficiency, effectiveness and safety) has traditionally focused on improving the efficiency of each and every area of the hospital independently. And the effort has been focused on acting on two variables: improving the care resolution of that area (generally expressed by the time of stay or duration of the care act in that area), and increasing the occupation rate of that area. However, this approach is insufficient to improve overall efficiency, and it is necessary to design an operations management system based on the management of patient flow throughout the care process.
