The UNESSA federation has the great challenge of supporting the reform of hospital networks by focusing on the situation of the Walloon hospitals it represents. At the political level, only the main axes of this reform have been established; the approach of the end of the legislature has not allowed the Walloon authorities to devote themselves to it.
Antares Consulting has been a key partner in helping us to characterise future Walloon hospital networks and to demonstrate the relevance of the proposed network configurations for the patient. Its knowledge of the different health systems in Europe and other countries always enables it to put the most local analyses into perspective with the main lines of work observed abroad.
This is probably the first time that work of this magnitude has been carried out, both in terms of the number of actors involved and the volume of data and analysis carried out on a scale of the entire Walloon health territory.
This dynamic has allowed Walloon hospitals to be the only ones to finally meet the deadline of 1 January 2020 set for the implementation of the reform.
A real support in the operational implementation of the territorial strategy of the GHT (Territorial Grouping of Hospitals), with the creation of a scorecard for monitoring objectives. A methodology that favours a presence on the ground to facilitate the support of medical teams.
A support during a long and intense period for the development of the 2019/2023 strategic plan of our HAD (home hospitalization), with an innovative approach: the participation of all the employees with the organization of seminars and multidisciplinary working groups during one year, with a methodology of project management.
The Antares Consulting team led by Andrée Barreteau, beyond its experience and advice, was able to transmit dynamism and cohesion to the teams of this project. Thanks to its important presence, the Antares Consulting team has allowed, through the quality of service, a reflexion on our organisation by building action plans.
This support was valuable for our establishment and essential in view of the legislative and regulatory changes in the health and socio-health network, as well as the relationship between the hospital and general medicine.
Antares Consulting was able to provide work adapted to our needs and our schedule to develop the service development plan.
They quickly understood the challenges we faced in a complex context of institutional change. They also listened to the medical and paramedical teams, with a perception of the needs, conditioned by local, regional and national constraints.
The Antares Consulting team, always at our side and the quality of its work, enabled the realisation of a service development plan and thus the reactivation of our teams and reformulate our attractiveness as professionals.
The Vall d’Hebron Oncology Service has a high level of care that is complemented by the translational research carried out from the VHIO.
All of this with a vocation of excellence and focused on the patient, in the advancement of knowledge of oncological diseases and the design of new treatments. Our growth, both in care and research activity, in the current health and economic environment, forces us to be in a process of permanent adaptation and change, and in this sense Antares Consulting has been, and continues to be, a very valuable partner.
During the last years, Antares Consulting has accompanied us in the strategic aspects (support in the elaboration of our strategic plan) as well as more operative aspects (reorganization of processes of external consultations or the functional plan of the new area of oncology of the Hospital Vall d’Hebron). As a result of this work, we have been able to advance in a more efficient and rational redistribution of spaces in the external consultations, in a better distribution of workloads and, currently, we are working on the
inpatient health care process.
The collaboration with Antares Consulting has provided us with a work methodology and an external vision that we can contrast with the knowledge of the specific reality of the Oncology Area of the Vall d’Hebron Hospital and question the way in which we are developing our assistance and research, in order to improve patient care and maintain our level of excellence in an environment of increasing activity and limited resources.
In order to analyse the current situation of the pharmacy services of the NHS-O, we used the help of Antares Consulting. This analysis has provided us with a photograph, which I believe has been well interpreted by the consultant, and a definition of the needs and preparation for a new model of Hospital Pharmacy. The collaboration and disposition of the Antares Consulting team has been total at all times and we have been very satisfied with the analysis and proposals presented.
I believe that it is necessary to emphasize the future and somehow disruptive vision that they have of what a pharmacy service should be in the 21st century and with the current technology. From the point of view of our organisation, they have provided us with an enriching and expert external vision that gives us a certain strength to undertake new professional and organisational challenges in the figure of the hospital pharmacist.”
The healthcare system in Belgium is undergoing reform, as in many other countries. Although the administrations, knowledge institutions and local partners have a lot of experience, it is essential to add to it.
Antares Consulting has two key assets that make the company an important player as an external support to these reforms. On the one hand, it has a deep knowledge of the different health systems in Europe, which allows it to carry out comparative analyses and draw lessons from the initiatives that have been carried out abroad in terms of health reforms. On the other hand, Antares Consulting has a good vision of the conditions necessary to carry out related reforms with change management.
Antares Consulting has made a significant and credible contribution to the reform of the hospital landscape in Belgium, to the optimisation of the planning system of the health professions and to the better management and exploitation of health data.
2018 was a crucial year in the evolution of the Saint-Jean clinic: the challenges, the need to rethink its future objectives and to reposition itself in an increasingly competitive hospital landscape in Brussels. All these reasons led us to call upon the experience of Antares Consulting to carry out various projects: optimisation of the operation of our operating theatre, improvement of the accessibility and attractiveness of our clinic, and definition of a new strategic plan. Thanks to the great knowledge of our sector and its specificities at the Belgian and international level, the team knew how to adapt its methodology and thus respond to our needs.
The proposals and action plans put forward by the Antares Consulting team were very concrete and tailor-made. Antares Consulting’s capacity for quantitative analysis is a major asset: the anonymised data available to them has enabled us to know precisely where we stand in the regional hospital landscape and therefore how to position ourselves better. We are convinced that Antares Consulting is a valuable partner for our evolution and for facing all the current and future changes in our institution.
We worked with Antares Consulting for a period of six months and in difficult circumstances. The team demonstrated a strong commitment to the Le Havre psychiatric service and a quick understanding of our problems. Open at all times to listen to the medical and care teams, with a great perception of our needs and taking into account local, regional and national constraints. The Antares Consulting team was with us at all times and the quality of their service allowed us to rethink the care project of which we are particularly satisfied.
